Langford was originally a fire district and was incorporated as a municipal district in December 1992. Langford gained city status in November 2003. The City of Langford is located on the southern end of Vancouver Island, just 20 km west of the Greater Victoria metropolitan area. It is the largest municipality within the West Shore in the Capital Regional District. With its central location, Langford has become the commercial core of the West Shore with its big box stores, shopping centres, and small businesses located in the pedestrian-friendly town centre. In the last few years, Langford has experienced a residential boom with affordable and diverse housing, along with the continuous growth of Bear Mountain Properties on the north end of the City.

Langford’s vast network of protected lakes, parks, trails, and green spaces provide opportunities for outdoor experiences and activities that foster appreciation and enjoyment of the community’s natural environments.
